Suntory Global Spirits has officially submitted plans for the redevelopment of its distillery on Islay to expand production by more than one-third.

Suntory Global Spirits (formerly Beam Suntory) has restored a further 80 hectares of peatland through its Peatland Water Sanctuary programme on the Scottish island of Islay.

Beam Suntory has rebranded to become Suntory Global Spirits, as the company marks 10 years since Suntory Holdings acquired Beam Inc in 2014.

The IWSR Drinks Market Analysis reported that the global spirits category grew 5% in volume in 2022, driven by whisky, rum and brandy. 

Global Spirits, a privately held international manufacturer and marketer of wines and spirits, intends to expand its global presence by establishing an Americas Business Unit which will be based out of the company’s New York office.
